INC Delegations’ Hathras Visit: UP INC Chief Under House Arrest

The Indian National Congress (INC) took to Twitter and said, the INC Uttar Pradesh Chief Ajay Kumar Lallu is under house arrest.

The tweet posted at 10:33 A.M., which read, “यूपी कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष श्री अजय कुमार लल्लू जी को घर पर नजरबंद कर दिया गया है। कितना डरती है ये सरकार। हम रुकने वाले नहीं हैं।”

The house arrest came hours ahead of Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC and General Secretary of INC in UP Priyanka Gandhi’s visit to Hathras.

The Gandhis along with other INC leaders are scheduled to visit amid restrictions in the afternoon of the 3rd of October.

Mr. Rahul and Ms. Priyanka is going to meet the family of Hathras gang rape victim’s family.

On the 14th of September, a 19 year old Dalit girl was brutally gang raped by four men.

The girl had severe injuries including the broken spinal cord and died on the 29th of September at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

Soon after the death of the girl, opposition parties and netizens criticised the Uttar Pradesh Government led by Yogi Adityanath.

Priyanka Gandhi on the 3rd of October criticised the Yogi Government of threatening the victim’s family.

In a tweet, Ms. Gandhi said, “The UP government is morally corrupt. The victim didn’t get treatment, didn’t write her complaint, her body was burnt forcibly and the family is in captivity and is being pressurised. Now, they are being threatened that a narco test will be done on them.” She further added, “This kind of behaviour is not acceptable to the country. Stop threatening the family of the victim.”

Despite restrictions and implementation of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC,) Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Hathras.

In regard to this, Ms. Priyanka Gandhi said, “No force on earth can stop me from going to meet the family in Hathras and share their grief.”

Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating the case and is likely to submit a report within a week.
