India reported a total of 17,656 cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection till the 20th of April.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) confirmed the 17,656 cases and 559 deaths till 7:00 P.M., on the 20th of April.
While Punjab reported only one case in 24 hours, 54 cases reported in West Bengal, one in Andaman and Nicobar Island, 14 in Telangana.
The Union Health Ministry on its Monday briefing said, “80 per cent of the Covid-19 cases are either asymptomatic or with mild symptoms, health experts on Monday said lockdown and social distancing are the only way to prevent transmission from asymptomatic cases in a populous country like Indian with limited testing capacity.”
According to the Union Health Ministry, 1,533 new cases of Coronavirus were reported in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile the worldwide toll for the Coronavirus pandemic infection cases is 1,65,216 till the 20th of April.
To curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, the Central Government imposed a 19 days extended lockdown, continuing till the 3rd of May.
However, in less affected areas of India, a relaxation has been imposed on the lockdown from the 20th of April, after thorough scrutiny by state and union territory governments.
