On the 26th of August, India reported a rise in the Wuhan virus cases, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) After reporting below 35,000 cases, the new cases on Thursday witnessed an increase of 11,398 cases from the previous day.
In the past 24 hour, India reported 46,164 new cases, 607 fatalities and 34,149 recovered/discharged cases. The news figures were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on the morning of the 26th of August. The updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
Of the new cases, the maximum number of cases were reported from Kerala with 31,445 cases. The southern state has the highest number of COVID-19 active cases (1,70,312.) After Kerala, Maharashtra reported the maximum number of new cases with 5,031, followed by Andhra Pradesh (1,601) and Tamil Nadu (1,573.) It is to be noted, Kerala accounts for half of the total active cases of India (51.19 %.)
Mostly the South Indian region has the maximum number of Wuhan virus active cases, except Telangana. In the South Indian region, Telangana is the only State with below 500 cases of the Wuhah virus and total active cases below 7,000 (6,295.)
With this, currently India has 3,25,58,530 positive cases, of which 3,17,88,440 are recovered/discharged cases, 3,67,415 are active cases and 4,36,365 are deceased cases.
Of the total cases,1.03% are active cases, 97.63 % are recovered case rate and 1.34 % fatality rate.
The new cases were confirmed after conducting 17.87 lakh (17,87,273) sample tests for COVID-19. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 51,31,29,378 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till date.
Meanwhile, so far a total of 62 crore vaccine doses have been administered in India.
