On the 26th of August, India reported 67,151 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
While 67,151 cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours, 1,059 deaths and 64,562 people recovered.
With this, India has a total of 32,34,475 positive cases, of which 7,07,267 are active cases, 24,67,759 are recovered/discharged cases and 59,449 deceased.
According to the Union Health Ministry dashboard, of the 1,059 fresh deaths, the maximum was reported from Maharashtra, Karnataka (148) and Tamil Nadu (107.)
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) officials said despite every day rise, the COVID-19 case fatality rate (CFR) is below 2% and are trying to bring it down to under 1%.
Rajesh Bhushan, the Secretary of the Union Health Ministry said, “The Covid-19 mortality rate in the country is among the lowest in the world. India has managed the viral outbreak well so far.”
Globally, India is the third worst-hit nation from the pandemic. India may overtake Brazil sometime in the next two weeks if the cases continue to grow at the same pace.
Meanwhile, the global coronavirus tally has gone up to 24,061,215 cases and 823,513 deaths till date.
