On Sunday, the Indian government made a major bureaucratic change by promoting a number of officials to higher ranks. Senior IPS officers Rakesh Asthana and Gurbachan Singh were promoted to Special Directors of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) respectively.
Another change made was Sudeep Lakhtakia and Deepak Kumar Mishra were promoted to Special Director General (DG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF.)
A. P. Maheshwari and Rajesh Ranjan were raised to a higher rank of Special DG in the Border Security Force (BSF.)
On Sunday, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Training announced the promotions.
Gurbachan Singh earlier played the role of Additional Director in Intelligence Bureau (IB) while Rakesh Asthana was Additional Director for CBI.
Sudeep Lakhtakia and Deepak Kumar Mishra were both Additional DG in CRPF before the promotion. A. P. Maheshwari and Rajesh Ranjan were Additional DG in the BSF before being promoted to Special DG.
