Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 3rd of February, visited Leh, Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Modi addressed a public rally in Leh and spoke about the terrorism at the Line of Control (LoC) and said, surgical strikes are the way to stop terrorism.

Modi said, “I assure all the youths of Jammu and Kashmir and the country that the government will give benefitting response (‘muhtod jawab’) to every terrorist. We will break the backbone of terror in the State.”

He also mentioned the army jawans and citizens who lost their lives while fighting against terrorism and terrorists. He paid a tribute to Army officials such as Nazir Ahmed Wani and Aurangzeb who were killed by terrorists.

Mr. Modi, while addressing the people at the event, said, “Today the whole country is angry to see the killings of innocent and armless Kashmiri youths. (These Kashmiri boys are targeted) because these youths wants to live and fulfil their dreams. But they are targeted by terrorism. This is the truth of terrorism here.”

He assured the residents of Jammu and Kashmir that the Government will resolve all the terrorism issues and will fight against terrorists. Mr. Modi concluded his speech with a promise to achieve a prosperous and peaceful Jammu and Kashmir, a dream of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India. The ruling Government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) also shared their strategy towards the development of the State as a part of the Party’s campaign agenda, ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Mr. Modi also laid the foundation for the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Jammu and Srinagar and several other projects, ahead of Lok Sabha elections, 2019.


Later, PM Modi took a day off and travelled across the beautiful Jammu and Kashmir as a tourist.
