On the 7th of October, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) announced Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EKP) as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
The AIADMK Party leaders unanimously decided to nominate K. Palaniswami as the CM candidate in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
o. Panneerselvam, the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu said, “I am happy to announce that our dear brother Palaniswami will be the victorious Chief Ministerial candidate of the AIADMK for the 2021 Assembly elections.”
The announcement was made during a press conference on the 7th of October.
The announcement to nominate E.K. Palaniswami as the CM candidate came a day after the announcement of the 11 member steering committee.
On the 6th of October, Mr. Palaniswami announced the members of the steering committee.
The steering committee members are: Dindigul C. Sreenivasan, P. Thangamani, S.P. Velumani, D. Jayakumar, C.V. Shanmugam, R. Kamaraj, J.C.D. Prabhakar, P.H. Manoj Pandian, P. Mohan, R. Gopalakrishnan and C. Manickam.
Deputy Chief Minister O. Paneerselvam said, “As the resolution passed in the general body meeting our Chief Minister announced the 11 member names of the steering committee and I wish them all.”
He further said, “Our party is found by M.G. Ramachandran in the name of Anna. And it is a party movement and nobody has won three times. Our Amma (Jayalalithaa) led the party with the same path of MGR. His dreams of party and government should be with cadres. We are doing it now.”
The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are likely to be held in 2021.
