New Delhi: The most wanted terrorist Burhan Wani was killed on Friday in an ongoing encounter in the Anantnag district of Kashmir. The Police Chief K Rajendra confirmed his death. Burhan was featured in many videos that were circulated on social media aiming at the recruitment of young men of Kashmir for militancy. If reports are to be believed there was also a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information about him.
On Friday evening, an encounter broke out between the security forces and militants in the Bumdoora village of Kokernag. The encounter began after army and a joint team launched a search operation on the basis of specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants. The exchange of gunfire took place when the security forces were conducting the search operation.
Burhan also released a new video last month and warned the attacks on separate colonies for Sainiks and Kashmir Pandits if they are set up in the Valley.
