The International Court of Justice (ICJ,) on the 17th of July at 6:30 P.M., will give its final verdict in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

Kulbhushan Jadhav, an Indian national, on the 3rd of March 2016, was arrested and imprisoned in a Pakistan jail after he was accused of being a spy.

According to the Pakistan Government, Kulbhushan Jadhav, a retired Indian Navy officer, was arrested at Balochistan, when he entered the Country from Iran.

Later, in 2017, a Pakistan military court sentenced Bhushan to death, following which, India took the case to the ICJ for a verdict and asked them to annul the death sentence.

According to sources, in February 2019, the first such hearing by the ICJ took place, due to which, the Pakistan Government allegedly planned the Pulwama terror attack.

The Indian Government is eagerly awaiting the judgement, which is expected to be in favour of India. The Indian Government is expecting judgements regarding three main breaches by the Pakistan Police—the denial of consular access as per the Vienna Convention, a delay in informing India of holding an Indian national as a prisoner and not informing Jadhav of his consular rights.

The judgement by the ICJ in Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case will be the final decision, to which both India and Pakistan will have to agree.

Stay tuned for further updates.
