On Thursday, a Special CBI Court acquitted all those accused in the 2G Spectrum Scam. One of the main accused DMK leader Kanimozhi was happy and welcomed the court’s judgment. She was quoted saying, “We are very happy as justice (has) prevailed. It’s a big day for DMK and my family too. This verdict is an answer to all the allegations and problems that we went through.”
Kanimozhi also showed confidence in DMK winning the RK Nagar bypoll elections. She stated, “DMK is going to win this time no doubt on that.” The RK Nagar bypoll election is being held today. The election is happening a year since Jayalalithaa passed away and the seat got vacant. The counting and results for the RK Nagar bypoll will happen on the 24th of December.
Former PM Manmohan Singh said, “I don’t want to boast anything. The court’s judgment has to be respected. The court has pronounced unambiguously that the massive propaganda against the UPA was unfounded. The Judgement speaks for itself.”
While the UPA Government is excited about the verdict, the BJP has a different outlook. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, “The Congress party leaders are treating the judgment as some kind of badge of honor and a certification that the 2G allocation policy was an honest policy. The spectrum in 2008 was allocated by the UPA Government on basis of 2001 prices.”
He further added, “Each and every case of spectrum allocation was quashed by the Apex Court. The policy was quashed as unfair and intended to cause loss to the Government of India and the Government was directed to have a fresh policy by which an auction would take place.”
Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal asked an important question about the 2G Scam verdict. He tweeted, “2G scam is one of the biggest scams. It rocked the Country n was one of the reasons for UPA’s downfall. Today everyone goes scot free. Did CBI mess up the case? Intentionally? People need answers.”
The 2G Scam was considered the biggest scam in Independent India yet all the ones accused have left scot free. Many questions are being asked but very few answers.
