External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is known for being kind and accepting multiple requests for medical visas from Pakistani citizens.

On Wednesday, Rabiya Shehab sent a tweet to Sushma Swaraj requesting a medical visa for her father who needs a liver transplant. In the tweet, Rabiya has asked Swaraj to be her “ibn-e-Mariyam” (messiah.)

To which Swaraj responded she was no messiah and could never be one either. She concluded her tweet by saying the medical visa would be granted.

Swaraj said, “You have quoted Mirza Ghalib ‘Ibn-e-Mariyam huakarekoi…’. I am not Ibn-e-Mariyam, nor can I be. But I do feel your pain.” Swaraj also asked Rabiya to get in touch with the Indian High Commission in Pakistan.

In the tweet, Rabiya requested the visa as her father requires a liver transplant by early January. Rabiya also attached the visa request letter signed by a Chennai based hospital.

The External Affairs Minister also approved medical visas for 13 year old Fatima Naeem and Mansoor Bhagani who require medical treatment in India. Swaraj does not let the tense relationship between India and Pakistan affect the citizens of Pakistan.
