Uttar Pradesh: Prachi Nigam, the top scorer of Uttar Pradesh’s Class 10 exams, has garnered attention not only for her academic excellence but also for facing online harassment regarding her appearance.
Scoring an impressive 98.5 percent, Prachi became the talk of the town. However, instead of praise, she received criticism on social media for having unwanted facial hair, a result of hormonal changes.
Initially hurt by the trolling, Prachi responded with poise, stating that her marks matter more than her appearance. Her maturity garnered support from netizens, boosting her confidence.
Amidst the negativity, a shaving company attempted to capitalize on the situation with a commercial featuring Prachi. However, facing public backlash, the company clarified that their intention was to support her, not profit from her plight.
Prachi’s mother, Mamata, encouraged her daughter to ignore the trolls and focus on her goals. Meanwhile, Congress Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra reached out to Prachi, advising her to stay focused and not let online harassment deter her.
In response to the situation, the government has taken responsibility for Prachi’s treatment, providing assurance in the face of adversity.
