On Thursday in the early hours, the Jabalpur-Nizamuddin Mahakaushal Express’s six bogies derailed injuring 52, with 10 life-threatening injuries among them. This incident occurred in the Mahoba area od Uttar Pradesh early today.

The Superintendent of Police of Mahoba, Gaurav Singh had said that this accident occurred in between the Mahoba and Kulpahad railway station wherein six bogies derailed. Ten members have been gravely injured in the accident and admitted to private hospitals in the Mahoba district. Siddarth Nath, the Health Minister of UP was directed by the CM Adityanath Yogi to visit the hospital and check upon the injured and also visit the accident site. The health minister is presently at the site and personally monitoring the relief and rescue efforts.

The minister has assured 21 ambulances and 30 doctors have been rushed to the site. Gaurav Singh also said that the search and rescue operations are in full swing and two helpline numbers for passengers and families have been activated. In the six derailed bogies, three of them were AC and three general compartments.

The Chief Public Relations Officer of the North Central Railway had earlier said that eight coaches from the rear have derailed. This was later revised by the Senior Administrative and Railway officers who reached the site of the accident and investigated the cause of the accident, which is yet to be identified.
