Mr. Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, on the evening of the 29th of June, Wednesday, announced his resignation.

The decision to resign as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, came after the Supreme Court (SC) directed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Government to prove the majority and approved the floor test orders.  Notably, Mr. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Governor of Maharashtra, the 28th of June, issued orders for the floor test, after Shiv Sena Members of the Legislative (MLAs) started campaigning against the Maharashtra Government.  The leader of the rebel MLAs Mr. Eknath Shinde even claimed to have the support of over 50 MLAs, with which one could expect the MVA Government to collapse.

Meanwhile, Mr. Uddhav Thackeray said he is not interested “In playing number’s game” and is ready to resign.

Expressing disappointment over Mr. Uddhav Thackeray’s resignation, Mr. Sanjay Raut, the Member of Parliament (MP) and Spokesperson of the Shiv Sena said that Maharashtra lost a sensitive and cultured Chief Minister.  Taking to Twitter, Mr. Sanjay Raut said, “Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray resigned very politely.  We have lost a sensitive and cultured Chief Minister.  History is witness that cheating doesn’t end well.  Thackeray wins.”

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which was once an alliance of the Shiv Sena, called the Maharashtra Political Crisis, “Karma.)  Mr. C.T. Ravi, the General Secretary of the BJP said, “Karma does not spare anyone.”   In addition, Mr. Amit Malviya, the BJP’s IT department in charge also took a dig and said, “Balasaheb Thackeray was a man who could control governments, despite not being in power.  On the other hand, his son couldn’t even control his party, despite being in power.  What a fall from grace.”

With this, the BJP has a chance and could form a government in Maharashtra with the support of Mr. Eknath Shinde, 50 MLAs, and other independent MLAs.
