Mobile internet services which were remained suspended in Manipur since Monday evening were resumed on Tuesday evening.
An order of the state Home department had banned all mobile internet services in the state, starting March 16 evening, in the light of arson incidents in Kamjong district over alleged land disputes.
While imposing the ban, the state government had expressed fear of possibilities of further violence as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram were being used to share “hate video messages and images to incite the public”.
The government order lifting the ban on mobile internet services on Tuesday evening stated that the situation in the trouble hit area has improved and suspension of mobile internet/data services may not be required further.
Meanwhile, government agencies and NGOs have rushed to the trouble hit area with relief materials on Tuesday.
