Mr. Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, expressed confidence that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would be a national party if wins the Gujarat Polls.
On the 8th of December, Monday, the AAP won the Municipal Corporation Delhi (MCD) breaking the 15 years rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.) With this, the confidence of the AAP against the BJP is getting higher, aiming to win in the Gujarat Assembly polls too.
Mr. Manish Sisodia took to Twitter and said, “Through the votes of Gujarat, AAP is becoming a national party. For the first time, politics based on education and health is getting recognition in the country. Congratulations to the people of India.”
After winning the Punjab and Delhi elections, the Arvind Kejriwal led AAP achieved state party status, but now after winning seats in Gujarat, the AAP would have the status of a national party. To be a national party, the AAP needs to win approximately 6% of the votes in Gujarat.
As per the early trends, the AAP is leading in six assembly seats of Gujarat and is likely to win a few seats. Although the Narendra Modi led BJP is set to have a seventh time victory in Gujarat, the AAP is set to open an account moving a step closer to having national party status, against the BJP.
The counting of votes for the Gujarat Assembly elections is still underway.
