Mr. Sharad Pawar would continue as the President of the National Congress Party (NCP,) after the NCP committee rejected his resignation.
On the 5th of May, Friday, after the high level meeting, the NCP panel unanimously rejected the resignation of Mr. Sharad Pawar. In addition, the panel also passed a resolution, asking the 82 year old to continue as the president.
The decision of the panel came in the backdrop of emotional protests of cadres, seeking the continuation of Mr. Sharad Pawar as the NCP President.
Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule and nephew Ajit Pawar were present in the meeting in which the panel, led by senior NCP leader Praful Patel, stalled any succession plans for now.
The panel said, “The committee in today’s meeting has passed a resolution unanimously. The resolution says that Sharad Pawar should continue as the national president. His decision to step down from the president’s post has been opposed by everyone unanimously.”
Mr. Praful Patel said, “All of us want Sharad Pawar to continue as the party president. He should respect the feelings of lakhs of us and he should continue as the president.”
Meanwhile, reacting to the decision of the NCP panel, Mr. Sharad Pawar said, he needs time to think and reconsider, until then Mr. Sharad Pawar would be the NCP President.
