Airfares make quite a big hole in your pocket if you want to choose any seat apart from the dreaded middle row seats. Now the Airline companies made new plans to squeeze more money out of your pockets. Seat selection option now will be charged even the middle seats. So if you are planning a vacation with your family, while selecting seats, you will be charged for each seat you select separately. Most of the airlines including Air India, Indi Go, Jet airways, Spice Jet and Go Air are on the list that will be charging for seat selection. These airlines previously levied charges for side seats on domestic flights whereas, Air India and Vistara charged even the middle seats near exit rows that have more leg space.
This situation won’t be a problem for those traveling alone. But those who travel with the family will have to bear the brunt of this arrangement. For choosing seats together they have to pay the seat selection charges. If the family doesn’t opt for seat selection, the airlines will choose the seats at random, which might be together or farther apart on the plane.
The airlines are looking forward to the aviation department to give permission to implement the rule as they hope it will boost their revenue. Air India and Jet Airways are already following this selection process to boost their economy.
