PM Modi comes to rescue after Chief Justice TS Thakur breaks down

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India TS Thakur’s tears rolled down at a conference meeting in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi today while he was addressing about the unprecedented pressure on judges in the country work under.
While talking about the terrible inconsistency between the population and the number of judges required to cater to them, the Chief Justice said the government should raise the number of judges from the current 21,000 to 40,000.

At the meeting between Chief Ministers and Chief Justices,  Thakur said, “It is for development of this country, that I beseech you to rise the occasion… You cannot shift the entire burden to the judiciary… There is a limit to judges’ capacity.”
Prime Minister proposed a closed-door meeting with him to discuss manpower issues and judicial reforms.He assured the CJI of his government’s resolve in finding a solution jointly with the judiciary. “I can understand his pains..that the 1987 proposal (of increasing the judge, population ratio) was not fulfilled by the government,” PM Modi said while addressing the conference.
