On the 18th of December, Saturday, Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, laid the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Constructed at a cost of Rs. 32,600 crores, the 594 km long six lane expressway will be a major development in the State. After completion, the expressway would boost tourism and the economy of the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh.
The Ganga Expressway construction has been launch with a vision of connecting India with a fast pace. The expressway is also going to be the longest one in Uttar Pradesh. It will begin from Bijauli in Meerut till Judapur Dandu in Prayagraj. In between, the Ganga Expressway will pass Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.
In addition to the expressway, a 3.5 kilometre long air strip for assisting emergency take off and landing of Air Force planes would also be constructed on the expressway in Shahjahanpur. Anindustrial corridor is also proposed to be built along the expressway.
Responding to the awaited development, Mr. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said, “it will not only connect the cites but also the hearts of the people of the state. It will make the travel between Meerut and Prayagraj convenient.”
Approved on the 26th of November 2020, the Ganga Expressway would be completed in 2024.
