Rahul Gandhi celebrated his 47th birthday today. In a tweet, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished him on Monday morning and wrote, “I pray for his long and healthy life.” Rahul later acknowledged the PM in his message.
Rahul Gandhi flew to Italy last week to meet his 93 year old grandmother. His timing for the visit has however been criticized. Because his absence is during the naming of the new president is being discussed, which includes Sonia Gandhi, the President of Congress. Sonia has been coordinating with the ruling BJP and other opposition parties in this regard.

The ruling party is trying all chances to get a unanimous vote for the president. The present President Pranab Mukherjee’s term finishes on July 24. And in the vote is needed, the election will be held on July 17 and result will be declared on July 20.
Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and BJP President Amit Shah have been selected to the panel to discuss with opposition the candidate for President. The panel had met Sonia Gandhi and CPI leader Sitaram Yechury on Friday.
Rahul Gandhi’s absence at this important meet has raised questions about his seriousness as a politician. The BJP minister G.V.L. Narasimha Rao made a satirical comment about this situation and said Rahul visits India in between his vacations.
