Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s nephew Vinay Bansal was arrested for his involvement in the Public Works Department (PWD) Scam. On Thursday, the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) in Delhi arrested Bansal for involvement in a scam related to the construction of drains by the PWD.
A total of 3 FIRs were filed by the ACB against Renu Constructions which is owned by Bansal’s father Surender Bansal. The FIRs filed a year ago name Bansal and his father along with the heads of the company. A few months after the FIR was filed Surender Bansal passed away.
Sources revealed, Vinay Bansal was arrested from his home in Pitampura in Delhi at 4:00 A.M.
The FIRs were registered after a complaint from the founder of NGO Roads Anti Corruption Organization (RACO) Rahul Sharma. The complaint states irregularities in the grant of contracts for roads and sewer lines between the year 2015 and 2016.
The Aam Aadmi party has stated this motivated and an act of political vendetta. The party claims the ACB is doing this in an attempt to malign Arvind Kejriwal’s name.
