Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress, is scheduled to hold a public meeting and a road show in Wayanad, Karnataka.
After being disqualified as the Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP,) this is the first visit of Mr. Rahul Gandhi to his former constituency. The public meeting and road show is organized on the 11th of April, Tuesday.
In regard to this, the Indian National Congress (INC) leaders and workers made elaborate arrangements. Furthermore, security also has been enhanced in the region.
Notably, after being convicted in the 2019 defamation case, the Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a notice of disqualification to Mr. Rahul Gandhi. He was also asked to vacate his government residence. The war between the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party intensified after Rahul Gandhi was convicted for his statement against PM Narendra Modi over “Modi surname.”
A Surat Court convicted the INC leader for two year imprisonment. However, another magistrate court of Surat approved bail plea of Rahul Gandhi, giving him relief from the arrest.
