The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, on Tuesday condemned the Sukma attack in Chattisgarh and called it a “cold blooded murder.” The attack claimed the lives of 25 CRPF personnel in which Naxalites used ”tribals as human shields,” Rajnath said, “This is a cold-blooded murder. The sacrifice of our jawans will not go in vain.”

After paying homage to the 25 jawans killed, Singh added, “Naxalites are using tribals as fodder. Tribals are being used as human shields. The attack was out of desperation. They (Maoists) are against the ongoing development in the tribal areas. But we will not let them succeed.” Rajnath Singh also added that state government officials will hold a meeting on May 8 and increase strategies against the Naxals. He said, “If needed, we will review the anti-Naxalite strategy.”

The Home Minister after reaching Raipur directly visited the 4th battalion of Chattisgarh Armed Force’s headquarters in the Mana camp where he paid tribute to the dead jawans. Apart from Rajnath Singh others present at the ceremony were Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Das Tandon, Chief Minister Raman Singh, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir and senior state and paramilitary officials.

The Naxal ambush, which claimed the lives of 25 CRPF jawans while they having lunch. This has been the deadliest attack in the last nine years, according to officials .
