In Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan and Karnataka, polling for 16 Rajya Sabha seats are underway, on the 10th of June, Friday.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed special observers and ordered videography of the polling, which started at 9:00 A.M., and would continue till 4:00 P.M.
Some of the candidates for the Rajya Sabha seats are Union Ministers like Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman and Mr. Piyush Goyal are in the fray. From the opposition Indian National Congress, Mr. Randeep Surjewala, Mr. Jairam Ramesh and Mr. Mukul Wasnik are contesting the Rajya Sabha polls. In addition, the Shiv Sena leader Mr. Sanjay Raut are also in the fray and are likely to win without any hurdle.
Meanwhile, of the total 57 Rajya Sabha seat elections, the win of 41 candidates in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Telangana, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand have been declared elected unopposed. Therefore, elections for 16 seats are underway in four Indian states.
The votings would be counted at 5:00 P.M., on the 10th of June, following which the results would be announced.
