Tension prevailed in the Shivamogga region of Karnataka, after the murder of a Bajrang Dal activist.
On the night of the 20th of February, Harsha, a 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist was murdered. The murder incident amid the ongoing Karnataka Hijab Row created a ruckus in the Shivamogga region. After the incident, activists and supporters of Harsha vandalized properties and burnt vehicles. Due to the situation, the Karnataka Police imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and tightened security in the region.
Meanwhile, Mr. Eshwarappa, the Karnataka Minister on the 21st of February, Monday said, “Muslim goons have killed him. It happened because of DK Shivakumar’s recent statement that the national flag was removed and a saffron flag was hoisted. DK’s provocation encouraged Muslim goons. This goondagiri won’t be tolerated.”
On the other hand, Mr. Araga Jnanendra, the Karnataka Home Minister, clarified that the murder of the Bajrang Dal activist is not related to the ongoing Hijab row, in the State. He further added. “But we need to wait for further investigations before arriving at a conclusion.”
In addition, a special team has been formed to investigate the murder and rapid action force personnel are being deployed.
The special team has registered a case and launched an investigation, assuring to nab the accused in the matter.
