Lance Naik Saiteja, a native of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, was one of those who died in the Tamil Nadu chopper crash incident.

On the 8th of December, Wednesday, an Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper with Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others died in the crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.

The helicopter with 14 people crashed causing injuries to three people. The concerned authority launched a search operation to rescue others onboard. Injured people are currently being treated at the Wellington cantonment in Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu.

Getting into the details, the CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife, defense assistant, security commandos and an IAF pilot were on board in the Mi-series chopper. The helicopter crashed in between Coimbatore and Sulur in Tamil Nadu.

Later, the IAF took to their official Twitter handle and confirmed the incident and said, “An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.”

Of the 11 others who died, a personal staff member Naik Saiteja also lost life.

Lance Naik Saiteja from Yegua Regada village of Kurabala mandal in Chittoor. He joined the Bengaluru Regiment of the Indian Army in 2013 and was trained as a para commando. Later in 2020, he joined the personal staff of the CDS.

Lance Naik Saiteja is survived by his wife Ms. Shyamala, daughter Darshini and son Mokshgna.

The IAF also launched a search operation and an initial investigation to find out the reason behind the crash.
