The Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Mr. N.R. Elango’s son Rakesh Ranganathan died in a road accident in Villupuram district.

According to sources, Mr. Rakesh Ranganathan was driving with a friend from Puducherry to Chennai, during the early hours of Thursday, the 10th of March, confirmed the Villapuram Police.  After the initial investigation, the police said, the vehicle with registration number TN-02-CC-1000 rammed into the divider at Keezhputhupattu village near Kottakuppam. 

The police said,  “When the vehicle was coming at a high speed, a cow suddenly crossed the road.  They tried to avoid hitting the cow and lost balance.”

Speaking of the passengers in the car, Mr. Rakesh’s friend K. Vedha Vikash (21,) received serious injuries, whereas DMK MP’s son Rakesh died on the spot.  Furthermore, Rakesh’s body and injured Vikash were taken to the Puducherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

In addition, the Villapuram Police registered a case and launched an investigation in the case.
