Teachers’ Day – A Tribute to the Unparalleled Profession

Today on the 128th birth anniversary of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great professor and politician we celebrate Teacher’s Day, felicitating the Scholar and moral torchbearers all over.

Right from Google presenting it usual doodle for the day, to the occasion coinciding with Ganesh Chaturthi a day to seek blessings from the God of Knowledge, it was the perfect setting to thank and appreciate teachers. And the high point of the day was of course the President of India Pranab Mukherjee, getting down to business himself by picking up a chalk again to teach 80 students of classes XI and XII of Delhi’s Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya.

The former professor gave them an hour long lesson on the history of Indian Politics, with an emphasis on our political history and its development since independence. He also talked about the rising menace of terrorism in the country as well as across the globe.

In a series of messages on Twitter earlier today, Mr. Mukherjee said a sound education system is the bedrock of an enlightened society.
