Types of Ganeshas you must pray to this Ganesh Chaturthi

“Vakratunda Mahakaya Koti Surya Samaprabha,

Nirvighnam Kurumedeva Sarva Karyeshu Sarvada.”

That time of year has come again when possibly the most popular of all Gods honours us with his gracious presence. We are of course talking about the elephant, or more accurately the elephant man, in the room – Lord Ganesh! It is Vinayaka Chaturthi and you can almost feel the festivities in the air. From Modak to Mandals, Vidhi puja to Visarjan, Ganesh Chaturthi signifies the start of everything good. So this year, we thought to look at the kinds of blessing you need from this one-toothed, elephant head God.

  1. G for Ganapathi – Ganapthi or the Lord of All Gods. No time to please all Gods to listen to your wishes? Ganapathi is the answer! He is the God of the Gods and at least he, if no one, will definitely answer your prayers.

  1. E for Ekadanta – Ekadanta or the Single Tusked Lord shows us that sometimes imperfections aren’ A for Avighna – Avighna, or the Remover of Obstacles is a deity we should all pray to if we want our deeds to go without disturbance. He is the one you turn to when you can’t break through a situation or are facing too many hurdles.

  1. N for Namasthetu – Namasthetu or the Vanquisher of all Sins. In this age of Kalyug, we all have fallen into the so called Maya and many have committed sins – big or small, knowingly or unknowingly. But all this can be forgiven if you just fold hands and solicit the Lord Namasthetu!

  1. E for Ekadanta – Ekadanta or the Single Tusked Lord shows us that sometimes imperfections aren’t so bad. He teaches us to love ourselves for who we are and love others for who they are.

  1. S for SiddhiVinayaka – Siddhivinayak or the Bestower of Success. Generations have prayed to this God to seek his blessings and gain success professionally or personally. Promotions, Marriage, Education or anything, he is the go-to God if you want to achieve excellence.

  1. H for Haridra – Haridra or the Golden Coloured One. Haridra symbolizes the sunshine yellowness, both inside and outside. On the outside, Haridra (meaning formed from the turmeric) will help you keep all diseases at bay. On the inside, we pray to this deity to keep us humble with a good soul. Purity inside out!

There maybe many forms of the Lambodhar, just like energy has various forms. But likewise, he is omnipresent, always flowing within the Universe just waiting to be called upon. All you have to do is believe in the being.
