On Saturday afternoon, terrorists attacked an army convoy in the Srinagar outskirts of Jammu and Kashmir. The police officials had said that two soldiers were injured in this surprise attack. The armed militants attacked the convoy near a hospital as they were passing the Parimpora Panthachowk bypass road in Bemina area. The army responded with counter fire but the militants escaped as they were reportedly taking shelter in the nearby areas.

The army has sealed the area and launched a search operation immediately to track the attackers. The police reported no casualties in the attack. Before the assault began, gunshots were heard in the commercial area of Lal Chowk triggering panic. This firing was so as to stop a masked specially abled person who created panic among people. The masked man was mistaken for a suicide bomber and the police stationed in the nearby area started shooting in the air to control him.

Jammu Kashmir has been on high alert after warnings of a possible attack were received ahead of the PM Modi’s visit to the State. The PM will be in the state to inaugurate the longest tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway. After the hotel staff confirmed the man’s identity, the police captured him before he could create panic.

After this mayhem, a huge clash broke out in the area wherein the crowd attacked the security forces and chili grenades were used to disperse the mob.
