Third Bank Robbery In Kashmir In May, Suspected Terrorist Activity

On Wednesday, a bank was robbed in Pulwama district of Kashmir. This is third such incident which the police say is terrorist related. The thieves escaped with five lakhs in cash.
The police, speaking to the media said, four terrorists, entered the Wahibugh branch of Dehati Bank. They also reported that the loot happened at at gunpoint, at 1:50 P.M. The employees reached out to the police, who registered a case immediately. The officials also said that a search and hunt party was launched, to arrest the culprits and also recover money that was stolen.
On Tuesday, in a similar incident, unidentified people entered the Yaripora branch of the same Dehati bank and looted Rs. 65,000. On the first of May, terrorists attacked cash van of J and K Bank and killed five policemen. Two other bank security guards were killed in this attack. This attack was in Damhal Hanji Pora area of Kulgam district in South Kashmir.
The personnel were returning to headquarters after delivering cash at nearby branch. The terrorists also stole four rifles from the cops. The CM of J and K Mehbooba Mufti, condemned these attacks. Appealing to the youth, she said, “What do we achieve from looting of banks and killing of soldiers?”
