Vaid, the Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police said two suspects were arrested in the case of lynching a police officer in Srinagar on Thursday night.

Vaid, speaking to the media said, “We have arrested two persons, the third one has been identified.” Vaid after the wreath laying ceremony of the Dy SP Ayub Pandit of Friday said “Rest of the guilty will face the law too.”

Ayub Pandit was beaten to death outside Jamia Masjid in downtown Srinagar at around 2 A.M., by the mob. Vaid said, “Investigation is going on but initial reports suggest that some miscreants who were shouting slogans caught hold of Dy SP while he was coming out of the mosque after inspecting access control. They started beating and lynched him.”

Speaking about injuries to civilians, Vaid said that the police officer had a pistol on him and used it for self defence.
