Me. Wasim Rizvi, a member of the Shia Waqf Board, on the 14th of December, Tuesday, resigned as a member of the board. The resignation came after he converted into a Hindu. Mr. Wasim now known as Mr. Harbir Singh Narayan Singh Tyagi with his Hindu identity, submitted his resignation to the Chairman of the board Mr. Ali Zaidi, ahead of the board meeting.
It is to be noted, on the 6th of December, Monday, in a shocking event, Mr. Wasim Rizvi, the Chairman of Shia Central Waqf Board, Uttar Pradesh, converted to Hindu.
According to sources, Mr. Wasim Rizvi was converted into a Hindu by Mahant Narasimha Ananda Sarawati of Dasna Temple in Uttar Pradesh.
In addition, Wasim Rizvi also announced his will to be cremated as per Hindu rituals, instead of being buried. He wanted his pyre to be lit by Mahant Narasimha Ananda of Dasna Temple in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Mr. Wasim Rizvi made headlines over his religious point of view. In the past also, he expressed his support for Hinduism and made anti-Muslim remarks, which were criticised by many Muslim leaders of Indian politics including Mr. Asaduddeen Owaisi, the President of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.) Recently, Mr. Owaisi filed a first information report (FIR) against Wasim Rizvi for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed, in a book.
