Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his desire to strengthen India-China relations, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. In a notable exchange, Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Xi Jinping conveyed congratulatory messages, emphasizing the need for both countries to work closely together.
Xi Jinping highlighted that India and China should grow together like an elephant and a dragon, underlining the importance of fostering peace and cooperation. His statement comes at a crucial time, as efforts are underway to ease tensions following the 2020 Galwan Valley clash in Eastern Ladakh.
Xi stated that both countries should enhance dialogue and coordination on international matters while maintaining stability in border areas. Additionally, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun reaffirmed that the leaders of both nations have exchanged goodwill messages. He noted that India and China, as ancient civilizations and key Global South members, are at a pivotal stage of modernization, making collaboration essential.
