On Sunday, the YSRCP decided to approach the parliament on AP Special Status issue. The budget session of Parliament is all set to begin on February 1st. The YSRCP party leaders decided to take up the special category status (SCS) issue to the coming session.

The party’s parliamentary members met on Sunday in Hyderabad and decided to move the private member’s bill to Parliament. They said this move is to “to let the nation know about the importance of the assurance given on the floor of the House.” The meeting was held by the YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy. He said that the members of the party felt that the Special Category Status is “the only way which would put the state on the road of development with the incentives it carries with it (sic).”

As the SCS is being kept low priority and being overshadowed by different issues, Jaganmohan Reddy requested his party members to raise the issue ‘with full vigor.’ Rajamohan Reddy, a Parliamentary member of YSRCP informed the media that there was no alternate to the SCS. He added, “We will highlight the issue in Parliament and move a private member’s Bill. We will mount pressure on the Centre to honor the assurance given on the floor of the House. The issue will be taken up in both houses of Parliament.”

He also said that the party has discussed the strategy that leaders should adopt in the parliamentary sessions as those leaders who first supported the SCS are now defaming it and speaking ill of it. The leaders feel that only through SCS the AP state will get investments and also head towards development.
