The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will interrogate Rajiv Kumar, the Kolkata Police Commissioner, on the 9th of February (Saturday,) in Shillong, Meghalaya.

The CBI will conduct a probe into the chit fund scams by the Rose Valley Group and the Saradha Group. According to a CBI report, Rajiv Kumar, who was investigating the case, manipulated the evidence and took bribes from the accused. The CBI also claimed, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) was involved in the case.

The CBI entered the house of Rajiv Kumar, on the 3rd of February and started searching it. The Mamata Banerjee led TMC opposed this action and went on a three day strike. Ms. Banerjee also filed a case against the CBI in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court, on the 5th of February, ordered Mr. Kumar to arrive in Shillong and cooperate with the CBI in investigating the case. The SC also ordered the CBI to work in tandem with Rajiv and conduct the investigation smoothly.

A CBI official said, “As directed by the Supreme Court, Mr. Kumar will be questioned at Shillong in Meghalaya.”

The CBI also transferred 10 of their officials to Kolkata on a temporary basis. Officials such as the Superintendent of Police (SP,) the Assistant SPs and the Deputy SPs will work with the Offence Wing of the CBI in Kolkata.
