GHMC To Acquire Life Detection Systems

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has planned to acquire life detection systems to rescue people trapped under debris in case of a building collapse. In past few years, the GHMC has had to deal with a few collapsed building cases. This pushed the GHMC to find a better solution for rescuing the ones trapped under the debris.

GHMC Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management Director Viswajit Kampati stated the life detection system would be able to find living people trapped under debris. The system will be placed to emit ultrasonic and infrared waves to pick up heartbeats. The monitor on the system will highlight the location from where the heartbeat was heard.

This system will help the disaster team to find the living people before they suffocate or worse. This comes after the Telangana Government launched the Disaster Response Force. The team has a fleet of earthmovers as well to help with disaster relief.

The DRF was a vision by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K. T. Rama Rao. The DRF team is effective and equipped to handle any disaster that befalls the city of Hyderabad.
