WATCH : Brendon McCullum hits fastest century in 54 balls

Christchurch: New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum hit the fastest century in the history of Test cricket today by taking just 54 balls against Australia in the second Test in Christchurch. The previous record of 56 deliveries was set by West Indies great Viv Richards against England 30 years ago and by Misbah-ul-Haq for Pakistan against Australia in 2014.

The 34-year-old took just 54 balls to reach his hundred in a landmark innings to celebrate his final Test before bowing out of international cricket.

It was a master class of aggression from McCullum after Australia won the toss and made New Zealand bat on a green wicket.
