India head coach Gautam Gambhir has urged the team to improve its bowling after the West Indies chased down a target of 250 runs in the second T20I in Ranchi on Friday.
The West Indies won by six wickets, levelling the five-match series 1-1. Despite India taking three wickets early in the innings, the visitors fought back through strong batting from Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford.
Hope scored an unbeaten 102, while Rutherford made 84 off 37 balls. Their 120-run partnership helped the West Indies complete their highest successful chase in T20 internationals.
India had posted 249 runs for five wickets. Sanju Samson led the innings with 82 runs off 41 balls, while Tilak Varma added 44.
After the match, Gambhir said India must learn from the loss and find ways to bowl better, even on flat pitches with heavy dew.
He also called for a fair contest between batters and bowlers. Gambhir said better balance between bat and ball would make cricket more competitive.
He backed fast bowler Mayank Yadav, saying the young pacer should continue to use his pace rather than rely on slower deliveries.
