Indian cricketer Virat Kholi gifts bat to Pakistan player Mohammad Amir

Kolkata: India’s cricketer Virat Kholi welcomes Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir by gifting him a bat on Friday. The Indian batsman took the bowler by surprise as he handed over the prized bat to Amir during a pre-match practice session at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata.
Amir, 23-year-old pacer had to face reistance from many quaters including his own teamates after serving a five-year ban for spot-fixing in a test match against England at Lord’s in 2010.

According to sources, Amir had thanked Kohli and asked for a bat after Asia Cup. However, the security has been tightened by Kolkata police. At least 3,000 personnel are at work to ensure safety during the high voltage match.

“There will be no stone unturned for the match. We have called for 2,000 constables, including women, several inspectors and mounted police,” said a police officer on duty at the premises.
