Mumbai: Boxing champion Mary Kom broke down on Friday during the boxing selection and trails. She also alleged regional bias in the selection. She said that despite being beaten by the world champion from Manipur, selectors are favouring the Pinky Jangra of Haryana, who competes in the same weight category.

Olympic bronze medallist said, “Sometimes I feel very upset. Some of the referees and judges do not favour me but I don’t mind. Okay I am from north-east, no problem, but I am still an Indian.”

She said, “There are so many controversies. Pinky Jangra, I always defeat her and prove it to get a gold medal in every competition but they (boxing selectors) continue to support her.”

Finally Mary Kom said that it is still okay and she will prove herself in the ring.
