Shubman Gill and Shafali Verma Win ICC Monthly Awards

Shubman Gill and Shafali Verma have won the ICC Player of the Month awards for September 2026, giving India both the men’s and women’s honours.

Gill won the men’s award for the fifth time, setting a new record in the category. His strong performance against the West Indies in the ODI series helped him earn the honour.

Gill scored 110 runs in the first match and then hit 223 runs off 133 balls in the second. His double century helped India chase a target of 406 runs and win the match by eight wickets.

Shafali won the women’s award for the second time. She scored 360 runs during India’s Women’s Asia Cup-winning campaign and also took six wickets. At the Asian Games, she scored an unbeaten 100 against Bangladesh in the semi-final and made 48 runs in the final against Sri Lanka.

This is the third time Indian players have won both monthly awards in the same month. Gill’s fifth award also puts him level with West Indies captain Hayley Matthews, who has won the honour five times across the men’s and women’s categories.
