On Tuesday, after the Indian Cricket team wrapped up the India-Australia test series, Virat Kohli said that he will never be friends with Australian cricketers. The team had a memorable series and regained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In the four day test series, there were many heated moments between the teams and this was a result of the Steve Smith DRS row initiated in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli almost called out Steve, before which the on field umpire Nigel Llong took action. Steve Smith said that it was just a brain fade moment, but Kohli was not convinced and almost uttered the word cheat in a press conference.

Nigel Llong, the umpire observed the act and before Kohli could call out, sent Smith off the field.

This led to the Australian media bashing Kohli and also the former players taking pot shots at Kohli. This incident would have lead to bigger rift between the teams but both the country’s boards came together and called a truce. Things started going downhill after Steve Smith, in the Dharmasala second innings, by the end of game uttered what was derived to be as ‘fu****g cheats.’

Before the start of the series Kohli had said that he was “really good friends with all these guys (Australian Cricketers) off the field.” But things changed and now, at the post-match press conference when asked if he was still friends with the team, Kohli had said “No, it has changed. I thought that was the case, but it has changed for sure. As I said, in the heat of the battle you want to be competitive but I’ve been proven wrong. The thing I said before the first Test, that has certainly changed and you won’t hear me say that ever again.”

Kohli faced criticism from not only the Australian media, but also on field when Glenn Maxwell mocked the Indian skipper’s shoulder injury at the test series innings in Ranchi.
