The Indian Skipper Virat Kohli finally spoke up about the Australian media bashing him and the comparisons with the US President Donald Trump. Virat expressed that his conscience is clear and he doesn’t need to feel wrong for standing by what he believes.

These allegations began after the Australian Captain Steve Smith’s DRS brain fade moment and the Australian Fielders making fun of the Indian physiologist Patrick Farhart. When quipped about how he was managing the emotional roller coaster ride, the captain gave a sarcasm filled answer. He said, “I have always stuck by the right things. Always done the right thing, always said what I wanted to because I feel it is right. I have no regrets about it. I have nothing to go back and change. The only thing — I am surprised so many people are getting affected by just one individual, so good luck to them. If it’s selling their news, good luck to them.”

Kohli also added that what matters to him most is the Indian team and what they think of him. He said, “It’s something that’s happening on the outside (world.) What I try to do is look inside as to what are the things I need to improve on as a cricketer and as a person, what my teammates and close people think of me. These things (criticism) do not matter to me so much. They have never mattered. I have faced this initially in my career, I have faced this many times before.”

Amidst this drama, the former captain of Australia Michael Clarke supported Kohli and said that he had full trust in the Indian Captain and that he respects the skipper at personal level too. Kohli speaking about this said that the breed of cricketers understand and are sympathetic towards each other. He also said that it was each player’s choice and their conscience that they have to sleep with at night.

When quizzed about Steve Smith’s shift in momentum, Kohli said that everyone has their own thoughts about where the game is going. He added that when things don’t go as expected there do come brain fade moments as Smith has experienced. Kohli also said that the Australian team though had put some pressure on the team, the Indian teammates performed well and that the media should focus on the game
