Zaheer Khan To Announce His Retirement Today

Bengaluru: India’s left-arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan will be announcing his retirement today, according to the Indian Premier League(IPL), chairman Rajeev Shukla.
Shukla tweeted from his account saying the Indian pacer would hit the sack today and wished the pacer for his life after retirement.

“Zaheer khan to announce his retirement today My best wishes to him for post retirement carrier (sic),” Shukla tweeted on Thursday morning.

The spinner has been the Team India’s bowling spearhead for the last decade and instrumental in 2011 World Cup victory at home. His ability to bowl with the new ball and reverse swing the old ball helped Dhoni rotate other bowlers around the veteran speedster. Zaheer has taken 282 ODI wickets at an average of 29.82. His last ODI came against Sri Lanka in 2012.

“Hope Zaheer khan will keep on playing Ipl. Zaheer has been my most favourite bowler since 2002 when I was manager of team india on England tour,” he added.

The 37-year-old Zaheer played 92 Tests, 200 ODIs, 17 T20Is for India. He made his Test debut against Bangladesh in 2000. His ODI debut came against Australia, also in the year 2000. Zaheer last played for India in February 2014 against New Zealand in a Test. He has 311 Test and 282 ODI scalps. In T20Is, he took 17 wickets.
Zaheer Khan made his ODI debut on October 3, 2000 vs Kenya at Nairobi. It was a memorable debut for him as he picked three wickets for 48 runs in 10 overs.
