On Wednesday, Netflix India released the data of fastest Internet Service Providers Speed Index. Topping this list is Airtel which provided 2.25 Mbps speed in January, which is higher than Spectranet that was previously the fastest provider. It is now in second place with 2.10 Mbps.
The earlier recorded highest speed was 2.34 Mbps and provided by Spectranet which witnessed a decline in its broadband speed. This has been taken over by Airtel which is the country’s leading telecom service provider that gives services through broadband via cable, DSL, wireless and also fiber. Spectranet is limited to fiber services.
7 Star Digital Network, a provider of cable TV, digital Media, broadband, and entertainment services, emerged as the third fastest internet service provider with 2.06 Mbps speed, moving up fourth spots. Its previous speed was recorded at 1.77 Mbps, as per Netflix’s ISP Speed Index.
ATRIA Convergence Technologies moved to one spot down to fourth fastest internet service provider with 2.00 Mbps speed, as compared to its earlier 2.18 Mbps speed. Hathway moved one spot up to bag the fifth position with 1.93 Mbps speed, followed by YOU Broadband with 1.84 Mbps speed. Reliance Communications stood at eight spots with 1.81 Mbps speed, witnessing an increase in its internet speed from 1.71 Mbps. Tikona, Tata Communications, Syscon Infoway stood at ninth, tenth and eleventh spots, respectively, while state-run MTNL and BSNL remained at the last positions with 1.29 and 1.09 Mbps speeds, respectively.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index measures prime time Netflix performance on particular ISPs around the globe. It is, however, as Netflix said, not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network.
