Five people died in rain-related incidents in Telangana, police said on Saturday.
The Warangal Police Commissioner Mr. Tarun Joshi confirmed the death of two persons in a building collapse incident.
According to the Warangal Police, two died and one was left injured when an old building collapsed on the night of the 22nd of July, Friday, in rain hit the region. Mr. Tarun Joshi said, “It is an old building and nobody was there in that when it collapsed. It appears the building collapsed due to incessant rains since yesterday.”
In another incident in Medak district, two persons died on the spot when the compound wall of a factory collapsed in the wee hours of Saturday, the 23rd of July, confirmed Medchal Malkajgiri Police officials. While two died, one was left injured and is being treated at a state-run hospital in the district.
Furthermore, in a separate incident, a motorist also died on the spot as his head hit a road divider after his bike skidded due to waterlogging at the Narsingi-Vallabhapur junction.
The three separate accidents due to rain happened on the 23rd of July.
Notably, heavy rains lashed Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana on Friday, the 22nd of July, leading to waterlogging at several places. Furthermore, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad issued a yellow alert for the next two to three days.
According to the weather report, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Vikarabad, Mulugu, Peddapally, Karimnagar, Jayashanker Bupallapally, Kamareddy, Medak, and Sangareddy districts today.
Heavy rains are “very likely” to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Janagaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri districts of Telangana on the 23rd of July and the 24th of July.
