After the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a circular that Rs. 2,000 notes would be withdrawn from circulation, the opposition leaders took a dig at the Central Government.

Adding to the opposition criticism for withdrawal of Rs. 2,000 notes, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, the President of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) also posed five questions at PM Narendra Modi regarding the withdrawal.   In a tweet, the Hyderabad leader said, “Five questions to Top Economist PM Modi:@PMOIndia

  1. Why did you introduce the 2000 note in the first place?
  2. Can we expect 500 notes to be withdrawn soon?
  3. 70 crore Indians don’t have a smart phone, how do they do digital payment?
  4. What is the role of Bill Gates owned Better Than Cash Alliance in making you do Demo 1.0 and 2.0?
  5. Is NPCI being hacked by Chinese hackers? If so, what will happen to payments when war happens?”

The questions were posed with a post of ANI shared on Twitter, demanding answers.  This is not the first time that Mr. Asaddudin Owaisi criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government over the Rs. 2,000 ban.  Earlier also, the AIMIM President claimed the role of Bill Gates and his business in the decision which created a ruckus amongst politicians in India.  He claimed the move to be demonetization 2.0, which is going to trouble the people of India.  He also asked if the BJP Government is planning to withdraw Rs. 500 next.

Not only AIMIM Chief, the Indian National Congress, the Samajwadi Party, the Aam Aadmi Party and other oppositions are also slamming PM Narendra Modi and BJP Government for the withdrawal of Rs. 2,000 notes.

Meanwhile, the notes which has been withdrawn from circulation, in effect from the 31st of September, would be a legal tender, said RBI.  Furthermore, those who are willing to get their notes changed are requested to visit banks after the 23rd of May.  The exchange of Rs. 2,000 notes would continue till the 31st of September.
