The All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of Telangana won the Kishanganj Assembly seat in the Bihar bypolls.
The AIMIM was leading in the Kishanganj Assembly constituency and marked its victory in the Bihar bypolls by winning the seat. Securing the Kishanganj Assembly seat is said to be a big surprise for Asaduddin Owaisi, the President of the AIMIM, especially in a state like Bihar.
Qamrul Hoda, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate of the AIMIM, would become the new MLA of Kishanganj, Bihar.
Qamrul Hoda won with approximately 41.6 % votes in the Assembly. He was leading with 19,885 votes around 1:00 P.M., against Sweety Singh, the MLA candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
This is the first time a local Telangana party won a seat in another state.
Although the victory of AIMIM in Kishanganj is confirmed, an official announcement is yet to be made.
